BUILD YOUR QUOTE
Step 1 — Panel size
What size panel do you need?
Step 2 — Your current setup
How many breakers are in your existing panel?
Drag to set 20 breakers

Count all breakers in the panel including doubles. Not sure? 20 is typical for a 3-bedroom home. Each gets replaced with a new AFCI/GFCI breaker.

Does your home have a meter disconnect switch?

A meter disconnect lets the power be shut off without calling the utility. Required by many local inspectors. If unsure, select No.

Does your electrical service enter through the roof?

Look for conduit or wires coming through the roof into a weatherhead. Roof entries add labor for flashing and sealing.

Are GFCI outlets already installed where required?

GFCI outlets (with TEST/RESET buttons) are required in kitchens, bathrooms, garage, and exterior. Older homes often need these added to pass inspection.

Step 3 — Smoke & CO detectors
Are your smoke detectors currently hardwired?

Georgia code requires hardwired, interconnected detectors. Battery-only units don't meet this requirement and will be flagged at inspection.

How many bedrooms?
3

One smoke-only detector per bedroom. Two combo smoke/CO units added for the hallway and main level.

Does your home use gas or have an attached garage?

CO detectors are required near sleeping areas when gas appliances or an attached garage are present.

Which rooms have gas appliances? (select all that apply)
Attached Garage
Laundry / Utility Room
Basement
Attic / Mechanical Space

One combo smoke/CO detector per location.

INSTALLATION

Calculate EV Charger Cost ↓
EV Charger Estimate
LEVEL 2 HOME CHARGER
Step 1 — Charger size
What amperage charger are you installing?

Most EVs charge fully overnight on a 50A circuit. Check your vehicle's onboard charger rating — that's your ceiling.

🏠Step 2 — Your home setup
How far is your electrical panel from where the charger will be installed?

Longer runs require more wire and conduit. Measure roughly from your panel to the garage or driveway where the charger will mount.

Where is the charger going?

Detached garages and outdoor installs require weatherproof conduit and may need trenching.

Does your current panel have capacity for a new 50A circuit?

If your panel is full or close to its limit, a subpanel or load management device may be needed. Not sure? Select No and we'll include an allowance.

Does the charger location require any trenching or conduit through a wall?

Trenching is required when running underground between buildings or across a driveway. Wall penetrations are typical for most installs.

🔌Step 3 — Charger hardware
Are you supplying your own charger or do you need one included?

We supply and install hardwired Level 2 chargers (NEMA 14-50 or hardwired). Popular brands: ChargePoint, Enel X JuiceBox, Grizzl-E.

Common questions
WHAT HOMEOWNERS ASK
How long does a service upgrade take?
Most residential service upgrades are completed in a single day. Larger 400A installs or homes with roof entry work may require two days. We coordinate utility scheduling so power downtime is kept to a minimum.
Do I need a permit?
Yes. All service upgrades require an electrical permit and inspection in Georgia. GE Martin handles the permit filing and schedules the inspection — you don't have to manage any of that.
Why do breakers need to be replaced?
Current Georgia code requires AFCI and GFCI breakers in most circuits. When we install a new panel, all breakers are brought up to current code — this protects against arc faults and ground faults, which are leading causes of house fires.
What's a meter disconnect and do I need one?
A meter disconnect is a switch between your meter and panel that allows power to be shut off without calling the utility. Some local AHJs in Gwinnett and surrounding counties now require it on all service upgrades. We'll confirm the requirement for your specific address.
Is this estimate guaranteed?
No — this tool gives you a realistic budget range based on typical conditions. Your formal quote, which we'll provide after a site visit, is what locks in the price. Most projects land within the estimated range.
Do you serve my area?
We serve Gwinnett, Forsyth, Cherokee, DeKalb, and Fulton counties. If you're in the greater Atlanta metro, there's a good chance we cover your area — call us to confirm.
